A honeymoon is a time for two people to spend together, reconnect, and get reacquainted. It can also be a time to reconnect with yourself and your partner. But it’s also an opportunity to explore new places, try something new—and maybe even find out where the best honeymoon destinations are.
If you’re wondering where you should go on your next trip as a couple, we have some dreamy honeymoon destinations that will sweep you away.
There are so many amazing honeymoon destinations.
You can choose from a wide range of different locations and experiences, including:
- Romantic getaways in the heart of Europe
- Luxurious beach resorts in Mexico or the Caribbean
- Adventure-packed trips to exotic locations like Hawaii or New Zealand
1. Paris, France
If you’re looking for a romantic city, Paris is the perfect spot. The city is full of gorgeous places to visit and eat, making the top list of ideal honeymoon destinations. You can enjoy a meal in one of Paris’ famous restaurants or take in some art at the Louvre Museum. Or maybe you’d rather spend your time drinking wine by candlelight at one of its many French pâtisseries? Whatever your choice may be, there’s something for everyone!
2. Bora Bora, French Polynesia
The island of Bora Bora is a popular honeymoon destination for the same reasons that make it so amazing to visit: white sand beaches and luxury resorts, water activities, and tropical climate.
Some of our favourite things about this place are that there are no cars allowed on the island (you can only get around by boat or walking), there’s no electricity on any part of it after dark (except inside your room), and there’s plenty of time to relax while still experiencing all that makes a holiday in French Polynesia so special!
3. Santorini, Greece
Santorini is a volcanic island in Greece, known for its beaches and wine. The island has been voted one of the most beautiful islands in the world.
The history of Santorini goes back to ancient times, when it was inhabited by Greeks before being taken over by the Romans after Alexander’s conquests in Asia Minor (modern-day Turkey).
Santorini has a rich culture that includes traditional music and dance performances during celebrations such as Christmas or Easter; there are other activities such as sightseeing tours where visitors can learn more about local history through archaeological excavations at sites like Akrotiri, which was used as an airport during World War II.
4. Tuscany, Italy
Tuscany is a region in Italy that’s known for its wine and olive oil, but it also has a rich history and also serves as one of the best honeymoon destinations.
You can explore the ancient castles and cathedrals that are scattered throughout the area, or head out to visit some of Tuscany’s wineries.
It’s easy to see why this place has been featured so often on lists of dream honeymoons—there are many beautiful places to visit here!
If you’re looking for more than just sightseeing while in this part of Italy, consider checking out some nearby towns, where you may find yourself staying at one of their charming hotels or flats. Or if your budget allows it (or if you’re feeling especially romantic), consider renting a flat instead—it’ll make your trip even more romantic!
5. Cape Town, South Africa
Cape Town is one of the honeymoon destinations popular to many couples, and for good reason. It has a lot of attractions and things to do—and if you’re not interested in spending your days on the beach, there are plenty of other things to see and do!
Cape Town was named one of the top ten cities in the world by CNN Travel (in 2016). The city itself is beautiful, but that’s not all: there are also lots of historical sites around town like Table Mountain National Park or Robben Island Prison Museum.
These places give visitors an opportunity to learn more about South Africa’s history through art exhibits or tours through some of its most famous prisons!
6. Honolulu, Hawaii
If you’re looking for a romantic getaway, Honolulu is the perfect place for it. The capital city of Hawaii is home to many beautiful beaches and relaxing spots. There are plenty of activities, especially romantic ones, that you can enjoy with your new spouse.
It’s also home to some amazing views from on top Diamond Head, which offers great views of Waikiki Beach and Pearl Harbor National Historic Site.
7. St. Barths, Caribbean
St. Barths is a small island in the Caribbean that is considered one of the most intriguing honeymoon destinations, thanks to its beautiful beaches and clear blue water. Located just south of Martinique, St. Barths offers a variety of luxury hotels and resorts—all with amazing views of the ocean or mountainside. There are also plenty of activities to keep you busy: scuba diving is popular here, as well as snorkelling and swimming at one of many beautiful beaches on the island (which usually have some sort of beach club).
8. Barcelona, Spain
Barcelona is a vibrant city that has a lot to offer. It’s known for its architecture and beaches, with plenty of events happening throughout the year. The nightlife here is lively, you can also find relaxing spots if that is more your speed. There are many museums and art galleries in Barcelona as well, so there will be something for everyone during your stay here!
If you want an unforgettable honeymoon experience that will make all other trips feel like second bests, consider visiting Barcelona as one of your honeymoon destinations.
9. Queenstown and Auckland, New Zealand
Queenstown makes the list of Honeymoon destinations because of its adventurous activities, but it’s also an easy place to enjoy your time away. There are plenty of things to do in the city, including walking on the glacier or zip-lining over the mountains. If you prefer something more relaxing, there are plenty of outdoor activities that allow you to get away from civilization—think skiing or kayaking in nearby Lake Wakatipu.
Auckland is a beautiful city filled with art galleries and great restaurants (try eating at Maori Village). You can easily spend days exploring this city while still having access to other honeymoon destinations in New Zealand—including Hobbiton!
Both Queenstown and Auckland offer modern infrastructure, so you can get around easily by car or public transportation system; both cities have excellent security measures in place as well; they are safe, so you don’t need to be worried about being mugged while sightseeing.
10. Tasmania, Australia
Tasmania is a beautiful island in the south-eastern region of Australia, located approximately 300 miles off the coast of Victoria. It’s known for its stunning natural beauty, with rolling hills and valleys dotted with wineries and vineyards. The wildlife is also unique: there are no other mammals native to Australia besides wombats and Tasmanian devils (the world’s largest male marsupial).
There are plenty of things to do on your honeymoon in Tasmania—you can explore its many beaches or hike through some remote national parks if you’re looking for something more active. You might want to visit one of several museums dedicated entirely to local history if you’re interested in learning more about this unique place!
There’s no limit to amazing honeymoon destinations, so choose a place that makes you feel happy and excited. After all, spending time with your loved one should be one of the most important things in life.
